  My partner used John before for a previous mortgage and life insurance so when the fixed term ended naturally we contacted him again for a new deal, he came and took our financial information and we informed him we would like to know what we could get (for personal reasons) as a new deal solely for my partner or as a joint one between us.
  
  When he returned, we asked about friends and family member’s mortgages which we had discussed with them beforehand, and the deals they have currently got, and why they have been advised certain things. This was for our own understanding and clarity and to assess our best option. At which point he started to become slightly defensive for unknown reasons.
  
  He only had a quote for a joint mortgage and when asked what we would be looking at for a mortgage individually for my partner he replied ‘I can go away and work that out and come back again, but it’ll cost you £100’, and ‘I don’t know if you will get one, the interest rate would be higher and I have to get paid out of all this too you know’. When questioned he also said ‘This is the best deal, basically what you are saying is you don’t believe me’. – Which may have been true for a joint mortgage which was only one option we were considering.
  
  When we told him that we wanted this info to review our available options he then responded with ‘We can just leave it if you want, I have other things I can be doing with my time’ When we agreed for him to go he proceeded to say ‘bugger this’ and packed his things and left in what was a very awkward and uncomfortable exchange.
  
  This unexpected behaviour left us very shocked and taken aback, especially since we had used him before.
  
  To anyone who likes to discuss all their available options and have the differences explained to them thoroughly I would definitely not recommend, extremely unprofessional.
